William Drummond Bone was a watercolour landscape painter and student at GSA from 1928-1931, teaching at the school between 1935 and 1972.
A collection of personal papers and documents belonging to William Drummond Bone (1907-1979) including exam papers, army correstpondance, fashion designs, essays, teaching notes and exhibition catalogues.

A self-portrait from 1948 (NMC 061) along with various drawings and architectural studies (see NMC 648-679) held in the Glasgow School of Art Archives. The deposited collection included 3 copies of the 1904-1905 Glasgow School of Architecture curriculum/prospectus for day and evening classes; a copy of this document can now be found in the ACC archive of Architecture Prospectuses (GSAA Reg 1).

These are accompanied by drawings and diagrams as well as exam question papers from Glasgow Academy and essays written by himself. Also contained 3 copies of the 1904-1905 Glasgow School of Architecture Curriculum Booklet, a copy of this can now be found in the ACC collection of Architecture Prospectuses

A series of lecture notes, presumed for the purposes of teaching at GSA. These include Art History (neolithic, paleolithic, Egypt, the foundations of Western civilisation, Greece, Roman and Christian Art, Medieval Art, the Italian painters and Venician painting in the 19th Century (13 sheets). Another series of lecture notes outlines lessons in tone and shadow, solid form, perspective, space filling, pattern, posters, design introduction, picture building, borders, line, calligraphy, block lettering and figure drawing; each lesson plan is illustrated (15 sheets). These papers are accompanied by various drawings of the figure, fashion prints and diagrams. There are also handwritten notes on a 'composition class'.

Letters show correspondance between William Drummond Bone and the Army, referring to his War Servive Pay and demobilisation. Letters from Glasgow School of Art refer to the reinstatment of his teaching position at GSA after the war. A letter from the Glasgow Academy Rector details superannuation and there are also letters from various establishments documenting upcoming exhibitions and competitions which William Drummond Bone was involved in. A speech written for Mr and Mrs Armour is also included.
