Henry George Ashworth Leveson (1869-1928) was born on 3 September 1869, and educated at Marlborough. He entered Clare College, Cambridge, in 1887, and that year joined the Indian Civil Service. He was posted to Burma, where he arrived in 1889, taking up the post of Assistant Commissioner. Leveson became Assistant Superintendent, S. Shan States, 1892; Deputy Commissioner, 1901; and Commissioner, 1911. After retiring from the service in 1914, he was Admiralty Commissioner of Imperial Defence and Private Secretary to the Second Sea Lord. He died in London on 9 January 1928.
