Thomas Moore (1779-1852), poet, was born in Dublin on 28 May 1779. He attended Trinity College, Dublin, and was admitted to the Inner Temple in 1799. He became admiralty registrar at Bermuda in 1803. Moore won a reputation as the national lyricist of Ireland through his
