Henry Bell Wortley (1867-1919) worked for Schlesinger Davis's Iron and Steel Shipbuilding Yard, Wallsend, and Robert Stephenson & Co. of Newcastle. From 1895 he was naval architect, and from 1908 manager of Alfred Holt's Ocean Steam Ship Company of Liverpool. He was also a director of the China Mutual Steam Navigation Co.
