York Hospitals NHS Foundation became York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust on 1 August 2010. The addition of 'Teaching' reflected the increasing involvement of the Trust with Hull York Medical School, as well as to other higher and further education establishments in the area.
In April 2011 the Trust took over the management of some community-based services in Selby, York, Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale. This included some community nursing and specialist services as well as Archways in York, St Monica’s in Easingwold, The New Selby War Memorial Hospital, Whitby Hospital and Malton Hospital.
York Hospitals NHS Trust applied to become an NHS Foundation Trust in 2006. The application was approved by Monitor, the Foundation Trust regulator, and York Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was established on 1 April 2007.
In 2010 the Trust became York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as a result of its closer ties with Hull York Medical School.
In 2003 the main hospital in York changed its name from York District Hospital to York Hospital and became York Hospitals NHS Trust.
Having achieved a 3 star performance rating in 2005, the Trust applied to become a NHS Foundation Trust in 2006. Monitor approved the application and York Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust began life on 1 April 2007.
York Health Authority became a single district Trust in April 1992, known as York Health Services NHS Trust.
The development of the Selby and York Primary Care Trust had major implications for York Health Services NHS Trust, as it had provided secondary care and community services since 1992. Community and mental health services in Selby and York were taken over by the PCT and the function of York Health Services NHS Trust now centered on secondary acute care.
In 2003 the main hospital changed from York District Hospital to York Hospital and became York Hospitals NHS Trust.

These are deeds to properties currently in the ownership of York Hospitals NHS Trust. Included with them are deeds to properties now in the ownership of Selby and York Primary Care Trust.
Deeds to some properties (notably Bootham Park Hospital and Monkgate Health Centre) include much 19th century (or earlier) material. Lists of these are available on request.
They are arranged in alphabetical order by name of property. Because they are current records, the deeds stored at the Borthwick Institute are subject to change (as properties are acquired or disposed of by the Trusts).
