LETTER: R. Mon Williams, Holyhead to (H. R. Davies) thanking him for kind letter and postal Order. The information regarding H. R. D's grandfather was derived from "Methodistiaid Porthaethwy" by Cadwaladr Davies, published in 1888 which states that Richard Davies started business at Menai Bridge in 1830 and for the first two years it was managed by William Hughes of Llandrygarn before John Davies took charge. He states that according to to some books John Davies started the business in 1830, but he believes that Mr Cadwaldr Davies would have the true facts in his Book. He hope that the remarks about the Davies family in the book written by him are satisfactory to all concerned.

He also sent to John Roberts who holds Ty'n Caeau to come to Wern to pay his rent, but he did not turn up. The property he (J. P.) holds is let to John Jones. He encloses a copy of a letter he received from Mr Richard Jones asking to see the deeds. He is surprised that M. H did not inform him of this. It ought to be their mutual interest to consult and assist each other in everything concerning the joint estate. He has today written to Mr Owen Jones of Carnarvon for advice. LETTER: Richard Horne, Beaumaris to John Price, Llysdylas, late of Rhallt Amlwch. He is unable to see J. P due to the weather. He will be leaving the island shortly and as his grandmother is now dead his friends insist upon him filing a Bill in chancery against J. P and Mrs Hughes of Pistill for a moiety of his uncle John Bulkeley's estate. He is sorry that the contents of his letter has to be this subject, but assures J. P. that he will never forget the friendship that existed between them. He believes that he will injure his posterity by not bringing this again before a court of justice for every man that knew his uncle must be satisfied that he was a perfect idiot and consequently could not be responsible for giving away his property not even in a will. Mrs Hughes's obstinacy, in refusing to show the deed, will put her to great expense as she will have a "supena" to comply her to produce it. Sends his best wishes to J. P and to his cousin.

NOTE: Captain Vaughan and a Mr Burchinshaw, attorney at Law went to Tryfan about 2 or 3 years after John Bulkeley's death to find out how he had conveyed his estate. Mr O. Griffith referred them to Owen Jones of Carnarvon who would show them the deeds. Mr Rowland Bulkeley and Mr John Bulkeley joined in passing a fine. John Bulkeley was equally capable of giving away his estate as he was in passing the fine which empowered R. Bulkeley to give the estate to whom he pleased after the death of J. Bulkeley which power he did not avail himself of. Consequently as J. Bulkeley outlived he had the power, and was equally capable of disposing of it by the deed he made as he was of joining in the fine.

LETTER: Owen Jones, Carnarvon to Mr J. Price, Bodednyfed, (Amlwch). He saw the woman who has a life estate in Pen y Pentyr and asked her to surrender that estate to enable John Hughes to suffer a Recovery and to sell it, and explained to her that her life interest would be better secured to her than at present, but she would not consent to it. Her husband was also of the same opinion. If J. P will risk purchasing this tenement without a Recovery he will immediately prepare the conveyance. He advised J. P not to have anything to do with it unless it is a great bargain as the woman who has a life interest in it is hale, hearty, robust and likely to live longer than anyone he knows.

COPY LETTER: Geo. Norton, 22 Great George Street, Westminister S.W. to G. D. Dew, Esq., re Llandisilio Commissioners. He states that on applying to the Office of Woods and Forrests for the consent of the Crown to the Bill in the House of Commons he was told that the alterations made it necessary to consider whether such consent could be given. He was had a long conversation with Mr Gorst, solicitor for the Office of Woods and there are certain things they will not agree to. He therefore encloses a bBill containing usch alterations as he believes will satisfy them subject to approval as to the particular words. He suggests that Mr Dew sees Mr Barber at once on the subject. He fears that unless these alterations are made the Bill must be lost.

LETTER: William Griffith, Town Clerk's Office Beaumaris to Mr [H. P.] Davies. He has seen his uncle, John Parry regarding the question of the old semaphore Telegraph being used for lifeboat calls from Llandudno or Puffin Island to Beaumaris and John Parry does not believe this was done. It was found that Lynas could signal better with Llandudno than Puffin Island on account of the latter being much lower. The only signal from Penmon was a flag hoisted on the elevation above the Flagstafff Quarries.

LETTER: Boston, 266A St. James's Court, Buckingham Gate, S. W. 1 to [H. R.] Davies acknowledging receipt of his letter regarding the preservation of the Anglesey Records. Boston describes the matter as complicated and difficult and will give his views in due course. He has not had any communication from Cemlyn Jones or R. L. Edwards on the subject, though he knew that steps were in contemplation to remove the Anglesey records to more suitable and convenient premises. He has been troubled with minor ailments during the winter, and reports that 'her ladyship' is in excellent health, though he has failed to induce her to accompany him to Lligwy. Asks H. R. D. if they can meet somewhere to discuss the 'Records' question. In a postscript he adds that they have nasty fogs in London nearly every day.

LETTER: Boston, Monkshatch, Compton, Guildford to [H. R.] Davies. A report has reached him regarding the question of the college erecting a separate museum in connection with the preservation of the County Records of Anglesey affiliated to the National Museum at Cardiff. He thinks this might be a satisfactory solution, but would cost a lot of money. He does not think that a public appeal would be justified when most people's incomes are so seriously depleted. In his opinion the simplest plan would be for the records to be sent to Aberystwyth. He thinks it would be best to rule out any idea of depositing them in the College library at Bangor at present.

The collections received from Sir Watkin Williams Wynn, the Earl of Powis, and Lord Harlech are particularly important. He is anxious to secure more material from Anglesey and Carnarvon and asks H. R. D if he can suggest ways of approaching the Meyricks of Bodorgan and Lord Boston. He is featuring Thomas Telford in this year's exhibition and asks H. R. LETTER: W. Ll. Davies, National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth to H. R. Davies, Glanaethwy, Bangor acknowledging receipt of his letter and thanking him for his advice re Sir george Mayrick and Lord Boston. Discusses the County records and the opposition to their being sent to Aberystwyth. The College wants to make sure that the records are examined and looked after. If any county authority feels that it has no adequate home for its records, they will not be refused at Aberystwyth. He is trying his best to induce owners of records which are in private houses to send them to Aberystwyth. H. R. D. has the same prints of Telford as they have in the National Library.
