Letters from W.T. Thiselton-Dyer [William Turner Thiselton-Dyer] and J.D. Hooker [Joseph Dalton Hooker] to George Maw

Scope and Content

Letter from W.T. Thiselton-Dyer, 24 Mar 1876. Written from Royal Gardens, Kew. Manuscript

Crocus carpetanus was sent to Maw yesterday; Goeze [Edmund Goeze, botanist] did not give them a list of his bulbs, so they must wait and see what they grow into; Maw must have had a delightful expedition, and they would like the herbarium specimens and Crocus etruscus

A second letter is written below the above, from J.D. Hooker, undated [c.24 Mar 1876]. No address. Manuscript

He saw Palgrave [Reginald Palgrave, potter, Hooker's cousin, who designed memorial tablets for Hooker's father and wife] yesterday, who was anxious for the plaques to be ready, as is he; he asks when this will be, and thanks Maw for taking the trouble; Harriet [Harriet Anne Hooker, botanical artist, his daughter] is at Torquay and is better
