Administrative / Biographical History

Jimmy Riddle is a play in one act by Peter Cox, directed by Sue Parrish and starring Paul Barber (Jimmy). Presented by Birmingham Arts Lab and DET Enterprises, it was first performed at the King's Head, Islington in 1982. The production was designed by Annie Smart with incidental music by Alex Harding. The play is set in Speke, a suburb of Liverpool devastated by unemployment which suffered many factory closures, including the British Leyland No.2 plant. "The play confronts the ways the car industry with the help of the media, managed to effectively isolate those who challenge and fight its authority" (production flyer).
