Financial documents

Scope and Content

Financial records comprising invoices, remittance advice and receipts, bank account statements and tax forms alongside correspondence with publishers regarding payments and correspondence with accountants related to tax and revenues calculations. Many handwritten calculations of income and expenses can be found in these files. Most of the financial records have not been retained within this collection, but records for one year in each decade were kept to illustrate Douglas Jeffery’s method of keeping his books and finances: 1958, 1968, 1978, 1988 and 1997. Financial records from other years may be found attached to some correspondence.

Arrangement

The original order of his files was preserved to large extent and some of his file titles were kept.
