Contains correspondence of Jeremy Francis, Eugene Power, and Frank Francis relating to the British government’s purchase in 1976 of the Battle Abbey estate, with substantial financial assistance from American donors. Also includes press cuttings and press releases. Correspondence with the Department of the Environment on how best to mark the American contribution to the purchase is also included, as is correspondence relating to the suggestion that Power be awarded an honorary KBE for his efforts. Jeremy Francis, Frank Francis’s son, acted as a go-between between the British government and the American donors.
