Journal started by Richard Bentley in 1836, Dickens was the first editor and 'Oliver Twist' was serialised in it from Feb 1837 to Apr 1839. The relationship was not harmonious, with Bentley interfering with the editorship and Dickens failing to fulfil some contractual obligations. Dickens resigned as editor in 1839.
