Arranged by genre in the order: plays for stage, screen and radio; film scripts; dramatic sketches; prose works; poetry. Arranged alphabetically by title within each genre. Volumes within each title are arranged chronologically. The original order of the papers within each volume has been maintained where possible. Add MS 88880/1. Plays by Pinter for stage, screen and radio. Some of Pinter's earliest plays are not present in this collection, or are only partially represented. Copies of some of these plays can be found in the Lord Chamberlain's Plays (LCP) collection, with associated records related to the licensing process. Add MS 88880/2. Film Scripts. The scripts are mainly adaptations of other’s literary works. The notes and drafts relating to the film 'The Pumpkin Eater' are not present in this collection. The film was an adaptation of the novel by Penelope Mortimer, directed by Jack Clayton and released in 1964. For correspondence relating to film scripts see Add MS 88880/6/26-28.

Add MS 88880/6. Correspondence: Professional. The division between professional and personal correspondence and the order of letters within the files has been mostly left according to Harold Pinter's original arrangement. The professional correspondence section is arranged into series of letters in the order: productions; films; poetry; the arts world; political causes, issues and organisations; The Pinter Review. A number of the letters have been annotated at a later date with the surnames of the correspondents. The letters were originally stored in lever arch files; in this catalogue each volume represents one lever arch file, unless otherwise stated. Not all names within each folder have been indexed. Of those that have been indexed, there may be multiple letters from each person in any one section.

Add MS 88880/7. Correspondence: Personal. The division between professional and personal correspondence and the order of letters within the files has been mostly left according to Harold Pinter's original arrangement. The personal correspondence has been divided into two series: 'special' and 'general'. The division between special personal correspondence and general has also been left according to the original arrangement. A number of the letters have been annotated at a later date with the surnames of the correspondents. The letters were originally stored in lever arch files; in this catalogue each volume represents one lever arch file, unless otherwise stated. Not all names within each folder have been indexed. Of those that have been indexed, there may be multiple letters from each person in any one section.

Includes newspaper cuttings, articles, leaflets, programmes, copies of photographs, copies of letters to newspapers, speeches, reports, interviews and magazines.

Add MS 88880/10. Photograph Albums. Bound albums containing photographs from productions of H Pinter's plays on stage, film, television and radio. Includes some photographs of Pinter's film adaptations and of productions Pinter directed or acted in. Albums 1 to 8 include both UK and international productions, albums 9 to11 are split into separate UK and international (F) albums. Add MS 88880/11. Nobel Prize for Literature Papers. Harold Pinter was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2005. The prize was announced on 13 Oct. 2005. The award ceremony took place at the Swedish Academy in Stockholm on 7 Dec. 2005. Pinter's Nobel Lecture 'Art, Truth and Politics' was pre-recorded and delivered via video. Includes copies of the lecture, letters relating to the prize and a scrapbook of newspaper cuttings.

Add MS 88880/12. Appointments Diaries. Bound A5 size volumes. Brief details of appointments are written by Harold Pinter, Antonia Fraser and his secretaries. The diaries for 1968 and 1973 are missing from the series; 1966-2005.

Add MS 88880/13. Miscellaneous Works About Pinter. Includes published and unpublished articles, critical and biographical essays, dissertations and interviews relating to Pinter and his writing.
