Pinter completed the screenplay in Feb. 1987 for the original director Karel Reisz. When Schlondorff took over the role of director he wanted some changes made to the script, which were eventually done by Atwood. Pinter collaborated with Barbara Bray and Joseph Losey in the writing of the screenplay. Currently [2008] unproduced as a film, it was made into a two-hour radio play by Michael Bakewell in 1995. It was also adapted for the stage by Pinter and Di Trevis and performed as 'Remembrance of Things Past' at the National Theatre, 23 Nov. 2000, directed by Di Trevis. The award ceremony took place at the Swedish Academy in Stockholm on 7 Dec. 2005. Pinter's Nobel Lecture 'Art, Truth and Politics' was pre-recorded and delivered via video.
