The correspondence from the American-born poet Ruth Fainlight to Robert and Beryl Graves begins in 1954 when Fainlight and her husband Alan Sillitoe arrived in Majorca, a place to which they often subsequently returned. Fainlight writes about her work, her interest in Russian writers, and social and domestic life. Mutual friends and acquaintances met and discussed include: Aemelia Laraçuen; Idries Shah; Douglas Glass; Isla Cameron; Ted Hughes. The series also includes postcards from Fainlight and Sillitoe, and a small number of Fainlight's poems including a ts copy of 'Sugar-Paper Blue' dedicated to Beryl Graves, who had travelled to Russia with Fainlight in 1965.
