Scope and Content

Ms draft headed 'Lecture 2' [sic]. Pages numbered 1 to 30. Pages 1, 6, 7, 23 and 24 uses the versos of pages 34, 22, a fragment of page 25 pasted to another fragment, page 21 and page 20 of a ts draft of 'Experiences of Poetry'; the pasted fragments bears ms annotations, pages 21 and 20 are scored through. Pages 2, 3, 9 and 13 uses the versos of pages 14, 13, 10 and 2 of a ts draft, with ms annotations, of 'The Anti-Poet' [or 'The Virgil Cult']. Pages 18 and 19 use the versos of pages 11 and 10 of a copy ts draft, with copy ms annotations, of 'Some Instances of Poetic Vulgarity'. Page 8 uses the verso of page 18 of ms text in part later used in 'A Pretty Kettle of Fish'. Page 17 uses the verso of a fragment of ms notes on the subject of Robert Browning and the effects of strangulation on women (see also RG/H/O/40). Page 6 bears a pasted fragment; pages 7 and 17 each consist of two fragments pasted together; pages 8 and 9 bear pasted ts text of 'Dover Beach' by Matthew Arnold.
