Administrative / Biographical History
This private bank was formed in 1791 as Jemmett, Whitfield & Jemmett. It went through various partnership changes and became Pomfret, Burra & Co. in 1875. It was also known as Ashford Bank. It was acquired by Lloyds in 1902.
