Beige marbled album with 'Snapshots' embossed on cover containing 81 photographs of Bedford Physical Training College students participating in college life. The album was created by Daphne P. M. Trew of Set XLIV. Individual pages and photographs are captioned with students and staff named.
The images show students of Set XLIV; groups of school children at Clapham Road School, Bedford; scenes from rehearsals for a gymnastic demonstration at Bedford athletics meeting in 1946 and the actual demonstration at the same meeting in 1947 which includes a photograph of Arthur Stanley Wint (1920-1992), the first Jamaican Olympic gold medallist, running on the athletics track; Daphne and friends at Newnham Baths Swimming Pool; gymnastics demonstration by Madame Carlquist and the Sophia Girls Team from Sweden inside the gymnasium of Bedford Physical Training College in 1947; scenes from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves presented to children from Dr. Barnardo's Home, Bedford (December 1947); 3rd-year students performing gymnastic and dance demonstrations including a gymnastics display for 'Miss Read's Garden Party' with the comment that the "dresses were made from two white pillowslips"; exterior views of College houses in Lansdowne Road, the laboratory, lecture rooms, gymnasium, tennis courts, and interior views of the Big Lecture Room and medical room; hockey team; scenes of Ickwell May Day celebrations and from a camping course at Box End, Bedfordshire attended by 3rd-year students - the course was run for the College by staff from the Central Council of Physical Recreation; Daphne and friends with partners at a University Boxing Ball at Cambridge in 1948.
