Freda Colwill Set XI (1913-1915)

Brown ribbed paper album with '1913……1914' and 'B.P.T.C.' written on front cover containing 97 photographs of students and staff of Bedford Physical Training College for the years 1913-1914. The album belonged to Freda Colwill of Set XI. All of the photographs are accompanied by humorous inscriptions and all individuals are identified.
The images show scenes from life at the College and include the following: students playing lacrosse, engaged in dance displays; carrying out massage treatments on young children; cycling, tea parties in the garden, excursions in the countryside and boating on the river Great Ouse; students dressed in theatrical costume performing an entertainment; group photographs of Sets X and XI, the hockey, lacrosse and netball teams; tutor: Elizabeth Roberts, and the Principal, Margaret Stansfeld; 37 Lansdowne Road: the exterior, garden, interior of gymnasium, medical room and Senior study room; 29 Lansdowne Road: garden; 5 Dynevor Road: Junior student room; children participating in physical education lessons.
