Scope and Content

Scrapbook of notes and photographs about weaving around the world, assumed to have been put together by Josephine Padbury and sent to Hilda Breed. Written on the front is a note from Josephine Padbury: 'Dear Miss Breed, Here are the pictures I promised you. I hope you will find them interesting and useful'.

Contents: 6 colour photographs [possibly cuttings from a magazine] of weaving in Guatemala, 1947, 6 monochrome photographs, some coloured, of weaving in Sardinia, 1923, and photographs of weaving and woven cloth in Yucatan [Mexico], 1925, the Andes [undated], Bethlehem, 1923, Czechoslovakia, 1923, Greece, 1944, Mexico, 1923, Cottbus [Germany], 1923 (with workers in traditional dress), and Mesa Verde [USA], 1923 (a primitive Navajo loom). The notes are mainly about the weaving by the Guatemalan Indians and by women in Sardinia.
