Scope and Content

Expresses regret that Newman's lectures in London have been postponed due to the war. Asks Newman's advice regarding a recent graduate who wishes to continue research in mathematics, but has been unable to continue at London as planned due tothe war. Outlines his reading to date, and asks if Newman can suggest someone who can guide the man's reading and correspond occasionally, as Semple does not have the expertise to help him further. The man's name is G.T. Kneebone.
