Glaisher entered Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1867, graduating M.A. 1874. He was Fellow of Trinity College, 1871-1928; Tutor, 1883-1893; Lecturer in Mathematics, 1871-1901. In 1875, he was elected Fellow of the Royal Society. President of the London Mathematical Society, 1884-1886; President of the Royal Astronomical Society, 1886-1889, 1901-1903. Editor of the 'Quarterly Journal of Mathematics'.
