Papers of the Catholic Modernists: Papers of George Walter Young, Charles Edward Osborne and Frank Rooke Ley

Scope and Content

The collections largely consist incoming correspondence from prominent Catholic Modernists and concerning the running of the Weekly Register and later Monthly Register papers.

Arrangement

The three collections are arranged in three separate series' of correspondence. The correspondence in each collection is arranged alphabetically by correspondent and then chronologically.

Access Information

The collection is open to all bona fide researchers from higher education institutions in the United Kingdom, and to all others having reasonable need to use them. For specific regulations and opening hours contact the Library. Please note some parts of the collection may be closed, at the discretion of the Keeper of manuscripts, for preservation reasons.

Conditions Governing Use

Small quantities of photocopying and photographic coping may be done for research purposes with permission of the Keeper of manuscripts.

Custodial History

The George Walter Young, Charles Edward Osborne and Frank Rooke Ley collections were presented to the University by private depositors in August 1969, August 1974 and September 1971 respectively.
