      Generally sound. Discolouration at front and back of the bodice and stains on various parts of the top layer of the dress. Missing beadings and loose fabric at the gold embellishments. Fabric is fragile at front and back of the bodice. Signs of previous repair the layers of the skirt. Fraying and torn fabric at the hem.

Scope and Content

A sapphire blue strapless silk chiffon dress designed by Victor Edelstein for 'Rhapsody in Blue'. Bodice of the dress is boned and lined with blue silk satin, it features gold beading and rhinestone embellishments finished with gold braiding at neckline and back of the bodice, as well as front and back of the waist.

Bodice fastens on the inside with a set of hooks and eyes and a strap, two elastic shoulder straps have been added for support.

The skirt consists of three single layers of silk chiffon: innermost layer is purple, whilst middle layer is pale blue and top layer is sapphire blue. The dress which is of full-length, comprises of an outer side zip and press-buttons that are hand-stitched to the embellished details, and a hand-stitched label stating "Victor Edelstein London".
