John Jones, Drover Account Book

Scope and Content

Account book being a financial record of the journey of John Jones, drover, with his pigs, to the Midlands, 1804-1805. Includes names of customers, details of wages paid to his assistants and amounts paid at toll gates. Also contains details of products bought and sold at Abercain and surrounding area, 1821-1822.

Administrative / Biographical History

Little biographical information was available regarding John Jones, drover, of Abercain, Gwynedd. He was the father of a George Jones, who in turn was the father of William, a farmer, Robert, a banker in Pwllheli and John, a minister.
