LETTER: J. Ellis, county surveyor, Holyhead, to Hugh Jones, following his order by W. Price of Cadnant to inspect the two bridges at Red Wharf. They are both in a dilapidated state and need repairing. W. P. Poole should give notice to the contractors and not him.
P. S. to my letter. The expense of repairing both bridges will come within what their worships are allowed to pay out without an order of court.
Endorsed: Copy Letter: W. Price to J. Ellis 25 Oct. 1824 re. giving notice to set the work.
Draft Reply: Hugh Jones to John Ellis county surveyor, Holyhead. 29 Oct. 1824 The Clerk of the Peace cannot interfere, because as he observed, the bridges will come within what the magistrates are allowed to pay out without a court order, but he will attend if the magistrates direct him.
