Scope and Content

PROBATE of the will dated 29 June 1934 of Frederick Gage Heygate, of Bellarena, co. Londonderry, Bart. He gives £10,500 to his wife, and £100 to his sister Isabella Mary Ann Heygate. Smaller monetary bequests are made to his servants. His successor at Bellarena is given all farming stock, garden implements, pictures and prints and certain furniture. The bonus money bequeathed him by his mother is left in trust to be disposed of as other trust moneys under the terms of the Resettlement of the Bellarena estate in 1875. The residue of his estate is to be used to pay his wife her income and after her death payments of £1000 are to be made to his sisters Rosamund Anna Lloyd and Isabella Mary Ann Heygate, and to his niece Mrs Elizabeth Wolfe, £500 to his cousin Conolly Gage, £1000 to the children of his nephew Frederick Jasper Lloyd. The residue of the estate is to be put in trust for his nephew Roger Lloyd.

Executors and trustees: For a Lady Heygate, Rgt. Hon. Maurice Marcus McCausland P. C. of Denagh Limavady, co. Londonderry and James Frederick Haynes Atkey of 12 Park Place, St. James's Street, Westminster, solicitor. By a codicil dated 28th June 1938 the testator appoints Roger Edward John Lloyd and Edward Geoffrey Campbell Brown of Drumrane, Limavdy, co. Londonderry executors and trustees instead of James Frederick Haynes Atkey, now deceased, and Maurice Marcus McCausland.

Since making his original will his sister Isabella Mary Ann Heygate and 2 of his servants have died and one servant has left his service. Their legacies have therefore lapsed and instead £100 is given to Gwyneth Heygate, wife of his nephew, who is also to receive £1000 after the death of his wife, £50 to the widow of his servant and £50 to his land steward. Finally he amends an error in the interest rate of his shares incorrectly described as 5% stock when it in fact should be 3%.

Endorsement: MEMORANDUM dated July 11 1951 of an assent by Roger Edward John Lloyd and Edward Geoffrey Campbell Brown to the vesting in Sir John Edward Bourne Heygate, Bart., for an estate in fee simple at West Baddon, co. Northampton.
