Scope and Content

LETTER: Henry [James Owen], Clapham Junction, L.B. & S.C. Railway, London to his cousin Ellen thanking her for her letter and for enclosing one from Uncle John which he will return when his mother has read it. He is not going to write to him any more as he does not bother to reply. He is writing at her request in time for her coming of age on the 4th. He will expect to hear from her on the 19th as it is his birthday. He thanks her for the New Year Card - the first one he has ever received from anyone. He enjoyed his Christmas beef and pudding in the comfort of a warm room looking through the window at the bad weather outside.
