LETTER: James Sparrow to Williams returning his Life Boat magazine from which he had obtained the knowledge that he is dead, and he assures W. That this is not absolutely true. Their task has been coldly acknowledged. He is sure that much good comes of establishments such as these in question when under efficient local superintendence. He encloses an extract of W's report for the year ended 31 December 1845 showing the number of lives saved and rewards given. He is satisfied that with agitations at sea which occur in most cases of shipwreck either of his boats would right themselves. He discusses the advisability of self righting boats and points out defects in the plan for boats by their Naval friends.
