Administrative / Biographical History

In 1972 the former Congregational Church in England and Wales joined with the former Presbyterian Church of England to form the United Reformed Church. The former Gilwern Congregational thereafter became the URC, Gilwern. The present church was opened in 1886. Before 1886 services were held in a schoolroom adjoining the Lion Inn from 1852.
