Con Curvis of Waun Wen was a student at National Council of Labour Colleges classes. In 1935 he won the prize of 'Best Essay' for a paper on 'The Breakup of the Manor'. The prize was a copy of 'Karl Marx' by Ryazanoff, which later came into the possession of David Michael of Coleg Harlech, the depositor of this collection.
