Administrative / Biographical History
J.D. Williams was the managing editor of the Cambria Daily Leader and Herald of Wales, evening and weekly journals, published at Swansea. He was born in 1878 and had worked at the Cambria Daily Leader since the age of 14 when he joined as an errand boy. He worked his way up through every department before finally becoming managing editor. J.D. Williams was a delegate at the Imperial Press Association Conference of 1920, held in Canada. J.D. Williams during World War One, went into voluntary service with the Y.M.C.A, having been rejected for active service on physical grounds. He was present at the Battle of the Somme in 1916. He was later Honorary Secretary of the Widows and Orphans Fund.
