Administrative / Biographical History
Ystalyfera Community Council was created in 1983 out of the eastern part of the former parish of Llanguicke, situated in the upper Swansea Valley. Originally within West Glamorgan, it has since 1996 been in Neath Port Talbot County Borough. It consists of two wards, Godre'rgraig and Ystalyfera, named after the two principal centres of population in the area.
