Herbert Griffiths (1867-1947) was born at Pant-y-ddraenen, Cadoxton-juxta-Neath, and became manager of Bryn Colliery, Port Talbot, in the early 1900s. Later he managed Birchgrove Collieries. He also wrote poetry under the bardic name of Dafydd Morgannwg.
