Lease for 50 years, royalty of 6 pence per ton for each ton of coal and culm which shall be wrought, worked and landed and royalty of 8 pence per ton for all large coal wrought, worked under and according to powers and provisions mentioned. And in default of working, raising and landing from any cause or causes whatsoever such quantity and number of tons of coal and culm in each and every year of said term hereby granted as will produce by reservation and rate of tonnage aforesaid sum of £300, then yielding and paying unto (i) during so many years of said term as (iv) shall fail in that behalf clear yearly rent or sum of £300. Yielding and paying unto (i) over and above said royalty hereby declared sum of 1 shilling for every wey of coal and culm which shall be worked, wrought and landed by virtue of demise hereby made. Also yielding and paying yearly during continuance of this demise for every ton of fire clay which shall be wrought, raised or got in, from or under said farms, land and hereditaments and be actually used, sum of 1 shilling, 2 Nov. 1843; (i) Starling Benson of Swansea, county of Glamorgan, esquire, and William Edmund Logan of same place, esquire, with consent of (ii) William Meyrick of Gwailod-y-garth, parish of Merthy-tidvil (TYDFIL), county of Glamorgan, esquire, and (iii) John Parsons of Graig Cottage, parish of Cadoxton juxta Neath, county of Glamorgan, esquire, to (iv) Governor and Company of Copper Miners in England; Veins, seams and beds of coal and culm of a(ll) kinds (s) and quality in, upon or under those 2 farms, lands and hereditaments called Cwm C(urnach) and Llwyn Erch Edwal otherwise Llannerch Edwal, parish of Cadoxton juxta Neath, heretofore part of Briton Ferry estate and now in several tenures and occupations of Roger Jones and ( ) Walters, widow, their undertenants or assigns.; Recites lease of 25 Mar. 1831 (see D/D SB 12/7); (i) do give, grant, let and set unto (iv) full and free liberty, licence, power and authority to and for them, their servants, labourers and workmen with or without horses, carts, carriages, tram, rail or other waggons to pass, repass and travel over, across, along and upon level, tram road and railway from mouth of certain level called Ynisymond Level to boundary of said farms and lands called Cwm Curnach and Llwyn Erch Edwal and also over, across, along and upon tram road or railway leading from Ynisymond Level to Swansea Canal in order to convey, carry away and transport over and along same coal and culm hereby demised. To hold, use, exercise and enjoy liberty, licence, power and authority hereby granted unto (iv) and their successors for and during term of 7 years. Yielding and paying yearly and every year (iv) shall have full, free and uninterrupted use and enjoyment of said level and tram or railroad unto (ii), sums following: a) 1 shilling and 6 pence per wey for each wey of coal and culm which shall be wrought, worked and landed by virtue of these presents and shall travel or be conveyed or carried through, over or along said level and railroad or tram road (being rent of 6 pence per wey for leave or license hereby granted to pass through, over and upon said lands called Craig y Perchill and Bwlch y Cruse and rent of 1 shilling per wey for leave or licence hereby also granted to pass through, over and upon Abbey lands to said canal or intended rail road or tram road b) sum of 3 shillings per wey for each wey of coal and culm which shall be wrought, worked and landed and shall travel or be conveyed or carried over, along or upon said railway or tram road to Swansea Canal
