Relieving Officers, each with responsibility for a particular district, had a number of functions, including the administration of outdoor relief. After the abolition of the Boards of Guardians in 1930, the relieving officers continued to carry out their functions under the responsibilty of the Public Assistance Committee of the Glamorgan County Council.
