Wintle Henry Rhys (c1857-1940) was born in Bridgend, the son of William Rhys, also a cabinet maker, and his wife Eliza. He married Catherine Maria Evans in 1891 and they had six children. They lived in Bridgend and later at Merthyr Mawr.
