Robert Traherne Anson Rickards was born 1874 in Clifton, Bristol, one of three children of Reverend Marcus Rickards and Edith Rickards (nee Linton). Robert Rickards subsequently attended boarding school on College Road, Clifton. By 1901 he had become a local Land Agent, a role he was to perform for over forty years, and was living at Llanfair Road, Cardiff, moving a short time later to Mwyndy Cottages, Pontyclun. During April 1904 he married Henrietta Mary Linton at the Cathedral Church, Llandaff. By the 1930s Robert Rickards was living at The Ynys, Taffs Well, Glamorgan. Robert Rickards died 21 March 1952 at Wenvoe, Glamorgan
