This file documents the appointment of the Fore-Stage Committee (also referred to as the Fore-Stage Sub-Committee) and the work of such Committee.

As well as meeting notices and reports by the Fore-Stage Committee, this file covers some correspondence relating to the work of the Committee, including discussion about options and plans for the fore-stage of the proposed theatre, discussion about possible use of a revolve in the theatre, in relation to the shape of the fore-stage, (1949) and the issue of lack of co-ordination between the architects Masey and O'Rorke (1948).

Administrative / Biographical History

The fore-stage Committee was appointed around June 1948 as a Sub-Committee of the National Theatre Building Sub-Committee, to consider the issue of the fore-stage in the proposed National Theatre.
