Julia Warde-Aldam was the honorary secretary of the Wath Rural Deanery division of the Church of England Society for Providing Homes for Waifs and Strays. The Industrial Home for Girls, Doncaster was affiliated to the Society and subsequently became one of its Homes under the name of St. Christopher's Home.
