Administrative / Biographical History

The Doncaster County Court was established by the County Courts Act, 1846 (9 and 10 Vict. cap XCV), replacing the small debts court for the borough established by a local Act of 1764 (4 Geo IIIc.xl) and probably superseding the borough court of record authorised by the borough charter of 1467 although this court was not formally abolished until the Local Government Act, 1972.
