Settlement by deed of covenant

Scope and Content

27 August 1628. Settlement by deed of covenant: Lawrence Lownes of Finchley, esq. to Robert More of Barwick and Francis Lownes of London, gent. Lawrence covenants to stand seised of the premises as described in Wenlock/1/12 above to his own use for life and after his decease, the manor or lordship of Angram with all appurtenances to the use of his wife Judith Lownes for life, remainder to the use of their son Samuel and the lawful heirs of his body, and in default of such to the use of Jane Lownes daughter, of Lawrence and the lawful heirs of her body, and in default of such to the right heirs of Lawrence Lownes, and the Manor House of Hutton Wandesley with all appurtenances and 2 closes called Lower Parkes, 1 close called Narrs now divided into 3, Old Hall Garth divided into 2, small piece of ground called Neere Waste in the South Field of Hutton in the tenure or occupation of John Swaile, messuage farm or tenement in Hutton Wandesley in tenure or occupation of Thomas Lancaster with all appurtenances, cottage, barn, garth in Hutton and close of arable called Cony Garthe, 2a. of arable in the South Field, close of pasture called Huggetts Close lying against Beale Common (5a.) in the tenure or occupation of Henry Shone and 6a. of common in the lordship of Hutton and messuage, garth and 7a. of arable in the tenure or occupation of George Blythe - after Lawrence's decease to the use of his daughter Jane for life, remainder to Samuel and the lawful heirs of his body, and in default of such to Lawrence and his lawful heirs, and in default of such to his right heirs, and the residue of all the premises to the use of Samuel and the lawful heirs of his body, and in default of such, to the use of the lawful heirs of the body of Lawrence and in default of such, to the right heirs of Lawrence. With covenant to levy a fine. Unexecuted.
Annexed to above: 6 September 1630 Deed to declare the uses of fine levied according to above covenant to be as stipulated in above settlement. Unsigned but sealed and witnessed 7 September 1630.
