Rose Graham was born 16 August 1875 and educated at Notting Hill High School and Somerville College, Oxford. She continued in academic research, publishing her first book, on St Gilbert of Sempringham and the Gilbertines, in 1901, the first of her many works on medieval ecclesiastical history.
After Oxford degrees were opened to women, she took her BA and MA in 1920. She became a DLitt of Oxford in 1929, and was elected an honorary fellow of Somerville in 1933.
In 1922, her attendance at a Council meeting of the Canterbury and York Society led to her appointment as general editor, a post she held until 1958.
In 1952, under the aegis of the society, she published the first volume of an edition of Archbishop Winchelsey's Register, the second volume following in 1956. She also served as president of the British Archaeological Society from 1945 to 1951 and as vice-president from 1952 to 1963.
Rose Graham died in July 1963 at the age of 87.
