Original pen and ink illustration by Mary Dinsdale for 'Strange Valley'. The illustration shows Debbie startled by the appearance of the tramp in Ladyside Wood, and appears on page 64 of the book [Oliver & Boyd, 1967]. The illustration has been signed by the artist, and is annotated in the bottom right corner with instructions for the printer. The title of the book and the page number are written on the reverse. Sellotape marks along the top edge suggest this illustration may previously have been mounted for display.
