It was good while it lasted / Over the past two decades, steendrukkerij de Jong & Co. has organized some eighty exhibitions. They were meant to acquaint our employees with the latest, frequently epochal, developments in the arts and crafts. And with these exhibitions we also offered our city Hilversum and surroundings the opportunity to view work by contemporary artists in adequate surroundings. / As a "non-established" institution, we introduced in their early stages the various arts and their exponents which have now become generally accepted. Hilversum has since been presented with "De Vaart", an art centre that offers a wide range of activities. Most of what we had in mind when we started our exhibitions is now being carried out by a.o. this centre, making our efforts rather superfluous. / This, and the growing expenses involved in organizing our exhibition and dispatching the invitations, have led us to the decision to conclude the series with our 80th exhibition....
