Scope and Content

File concerns Emberton's views on the proposed Holford plan for the development of the area around St Paul's Cathedral, and his own alternative proposals which involved high-rise apartment buildings leaving.. Includes prints and negatives of a visualisation of his scheme; manuscript and typescript notes about the Holford scheme and Emberton's own ideas. Includes a copy letter from Emberton to Ivor Bulwler-Lytton of the Daily Telegraph, part of the correspondence in EMB/1/14.

Also includes a press cutting relating to the new premises for Messrs Rowans, men's outfitters, in Birmingham, designed by Percy Westwood.

A press cutting has also been added to this file at the time of cataloguing, from the Daily Mail, 08 Mar 1955: 'Skyscraper Britain?' by John Hall, which includes a reproduction of the visualisation of Emberton's scheme.
