Scope and Content

Five files of manuscript, typescript and printed papers, containing circulars, correspondence, leaflets, notes, photographs, press-releases, statements, etc. Papers concern conditions of service, outbreak and conduct of the strike, and involve the Ministry of Labour and other government agents, and the National Union of Hosiery and Knitwear Workers and other unions.

Administrative / Biographical History

CBR Jersey Mills Ltd owned a clothing factory in Shanklin Road, Brighton. In an industrial dispute during 1967-68, the workforce went on strike and was locked out. Mike Taylor was secretary to the 'CBR Lockout Committee'. He was later (1975) a Health Service Officer with the National Union of Public Employees.
