Letters to Sir Horatio Walpole and Charles, 2nd Viscount Townshend, mainly from British envoys abroad, concerning the conduct of the War of the Spanish Succession and the peace negotiations.

Administrative / Biographical History

Horatio Walpole, 1st Baron Walpole of Wolterton (1678-1757) was a diplomat. Charles, 2nd Viscount Townshend (1674-1738) was a statesman. Details are given in the Dictionary of National Biography.
