Great Bourton is situated 29 miles north of Oxford. The parish was formerly a chapelry of Cropredy until 1872 and was a peculiar of Banbury until 1846.
The records were originally deposited in the Bodleian Library in 1972 and 1980. The material was then transferred to the Oxfordshire History Centre. Further records were deposited as Acc 3215 in February 1991, Acc 3487 in June 1992 and Acc 6098 in July 2012.
