RECORDS OF LONG HANBOROUGH, CHAPEL OF EASE TO PARISH OF HANBOROUGH

Scope and Content

Christ Church, Long Hanborough lies within the parish of Hanborough (see PAR120), and is a chapel of ease to that parish. Christ Church was built following a grant of land in 1893 from the Duke of Marlborough for the purpose of erecting a buidling specifically for the 'celebration of Divine Service'.

The registers date from 1894 for baptisms, and 1898 for burials (there are no marriage registers). For other entries see Hanborough Parish Records (PAR120). Records which relate specifically to Christ Church have been placed under the reference PAR121, although related documents can be found amongst PAR120. For example, Christ Church did not have a Parochial Church Council of its own and came under the auspices of the Hanborough PCC.

The records were acquired through various accessions, some during the transfer from the Bodleian Library, the remainder from accession numbers 3732, 4483, 4568, 4730, and 4822; all of which were initially deposited with the records of the parish of Hanborough (PAR120).

Catalogued by Ruth Imeson, October 2002.
