DIARIES OF ETHEL HATCH

Scope and Content

The diary for 1887 is contained in a small notebook and the length of the entries varies from a few lines to more than a page. The 1889 diary is a Lett's pocket diary and almanac, with one week per opening; consequently, the entries are of uniform length and much shorter. The diaries contain information about the weather, classes the writer attended, shopping, numerous social activities, such as dances, amateur theatricals and parlour games, University social events, notably College boat races, and descriptions of holidays.
